Guitarist Joshua Cohen is in no way interested in playing conventional “rock guitar,” opting instead to explore the infinite variety of sounds the electric guitar is capable of producing.

“I’m a voracious listener; I listen to just about anything and I hope it shows in my playing. I’m more likely to listen to Sparks or Scott Walker than I would Nine Inch Nails or Queens of the Stone Age, so I believe I bring an interesting perspective to the song-crafting process.”

On playing with Candy Warpop: “I love the feminine energy that weaves our songs together. Amy, Anisa, and Angelica are forces of nature –- beautifully and unapologetically destructive. I see my role as twofold: setting the stage for this energy to release itself and, at times, subverting it and bearing witness to the carnage that results.”

In addition to music, Joshua enjoys British poetry, analog and digital photography, and collecting records.

Influences: Lou Reed, Robert Quine, Nels Cline, Marc Bolan, Marc Ribot, Rowland S. Howard, Tom Verlaine, Carla Bozlulich, Blixa Bargeld, Tom Verlaine, Sonny Sharrock, Ornette Coleman.
